Last year’s Emmy Awards was a virtual one, which meant viewing the red carpet beauty looks consisted of maximizing fuzzy Zoom screenshots. This year, the IRL, photographer-flanked red carpet is back, which means we get to witness smoky eyes, statement lips, and updos that have been hair-sprayed into oblivion in all their glory.
Here are the beauty looks that stood out at the 2021 Emmy Awards including Tracee Ellis Ross’s curls and Emma Corrin’s otherworldy eyeshadow.

Every red carpet in La La Land is crawling with updos, but Nicole Byer’s curly beehive was the grandest of them all.

Side-parted Old Hollywood waves are just as ubiquitous as updos, but the height and curvature of Elizabeth Olsen’s flip made it the best one we’ve seen in a while.

For those on team center part, Yara Shahidi had the cleanest one on the red carpet.

Taraji P. Henson showed off a dazzling set of bejeweled and bedazzled nails, giving noted hand model Lady Gaga a serious run for her money. Stiletto nails are in!

Presenting, Tracee Ellis Ross and her hair, perhaps the best advertisement for adding some more Pattern beauty in your life.

We love a big headband as much as Blair Waldorf does, and she’d probably say Aidy Bryant’s is worthy of a queen bee.

The only thing better than a quality cat eye is a quality cat eye traced in bright, highlighter yellow like Michaela Coel’s.

Emma Corrin’s combo of glittery gold shadow (courtesy of Byredo’s alien beauty line) and Miu Miu bonnet make you want to wash your face and draw on it all at the same time.

Issa Rae wore e.l.f.’s plumping lip gloss in Mauve Lady, a hydrating, high-shine formula that not only emphasized her 22-karat white gold grills, but probably kept her lips nice and moisturized.

Allow Kathryn Hahn’s dark roots, nonchalant side part, and tousled texture inspire you to literally let your hair down once in awhile. You can follow hairstylist Marilee Albin’s lead and spray a little Better Not Younger Lift Me Up Hair Thickener in there too.

Jamie Lee reminded us that those two pieces of hair that cradle your face are back in full swing. The comedian’s were impressively thick, wading a bit into curtain-bang territory, which is a nice place to be.

A lot of A-listers paired their red ensembles with an equally red lip, but Anya Taylor-Joy’s really stood out against her yellow Dior gown. Do you want to get the look? Makeup artist Georgie Eisdell used Dior Contour in Red Smile and topped it with Rouge Dior Ultra Care Liquid in #999.
