“I have always been bad about up-keeping a skin-care routine, but I feel like the older I get the more important it is for me to have a routine and stick with it,” says actor Diana Silvers in the latest installment of Vogue’s Beauty Secrets. “Consistency is key. I try not to introduce too many products because I have sensitive skin, so it’s very well-curated and thought out.”
Known for her roles in Space Force, Birds of Paradise and Booksmart, Silvers swears by a routine that’s packed with gentle-yet-effective formulas—a limited-edition Starface pimple patch, a True Botanicals Cleansing Balm, and an anti-aging duo by Dr. Barbara Sturm. “I like to be gentle with my skin because it gets red really easy; I suffer from eczema and rosacea,” she says while patting the Clé De Peau Serum into her skin, followed by a delicate application of Tata Harper’s Restorative Eye Crème. In between a lightweight moisturizer by Avène and Neutrogena’s Pure & Free Baby Sunscreen, the 24-year-old thanks her mom for teaching her beauty tips—from steering clear of fragranced products that could irritate sensitive skin to sporting lots of blush.
Onto makeup, Silvers opts for a Clé De Peau primer and foundation by the brand. The latter, she notes, is the “only foundation that hasn’t made her break out.” Next up, her favorite product in the world—the Ilia Multi-Stick—provides a healthy, youthful flush of color in place of contour. “A little bit goes a long way. I didn’t put much on and I feel very confident,” she says. Silvers takes major inspiration from her mother; Her mom loved blush, and now so does she.
“My goal with makeup is to accentuate and elevate my natural features. In general what I really like to highlight on my face are my cheekbones and lips,” says Silvers after applying the Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish Highlighter & Balm Duo and later a berry-hued Maybelline lipstick. For eyes, she turns to liquid eyeliner and mascara to elevate her everyday look. “Makeup has the power to totally transform how you see yourself. There is nothing I want to do more than a huge, transformative role.”
Perhaps surprisingly, her brow routine is minimal—consisting of a quick swipe of Glossier’s Boy Brow. While Silvers now embraces her natural brows, there was certainly a time when she wanted to change them—but she says her mom advised her not to. “Turns out your mom is usually right when it comes to loving yourself and what you’ve been given. I’ve really been fortunate that women have lifted me up, and helped me navigate this industry. That’s the same thing I want to do for other women,” Silvers says. And with a spritz of the Diptyque Rose Mist to her hair and Gucci Bloom to her wrists, she’s on her way.
