Jenna Dewan reveals she has ‘paused’ wedding planning with Steve Kazee

After more than three years of dating and nearly two years engaged, Jenna Dewan is still in ‘no rush’ to marry fiance Steve Kazee.

The 41-year-old actress started dating Kazee in October 2018, just six months after she had split from her husband of nine years, Channing Tatum.

The couple announced in February 2020 that they were engaged, though the pandemic has altered their wedding plans, with Dewan telling E! News she has ‘paused’ the planning process.

When asked if they have still kept planning during the COVID-19 pandemic or if they’ve ‘paused,’ Dewan said, ‘We’ve kind of paused.’

‘Only in the sense of… here we are again, you know? Can we gather? How safe is it? Where will we gather?’ Dewan said.

‘So we’re gonna take our time, we’re not rushing, and we’re gonna kinda see how the next year shakes out and go from there,’ Dewan added.

She added, ‘it’s hard for us’ because she wants to plan, ‘a beautiful get-together, whether it’s small, medium or big, but the world has some other plans at the moment.’

‘I don’t fight against what is, and flow with it, we’ll get there,’ Dewan added.

‘I happened to be in New York, so I took my mom to see Once on Broadway. We cried our eyes out and fell in love with the show—in particular, the lead actor, Steve Kazee,’ Dewan began.

‘We thought he was just so talented. And funnily enough, my mom had the biggest crush—she couldn’t stop saying, “he’s the cutest, so sensitive, so handsome,”‘ Dewan added, suggesting that they waited for him at the stage door so she can say hi.

‘So we did. We waited for a few minutes, and he appeared. I was pushing her forward to say hi, and Steve and I just had one of those eye-catching moments,’ Jenna said.

‘It was very quick, but it struck us both. It was a moment. My mom and I told him what a great job he did and how it was such an amazing show, and that was it. We both went off into the night. But I never forgot the moment,’ Dewan said.

She continued that they both went on with their lives until many years later when he messaged her when they were both single.

‘He messaged me and said something like, “Hey, I don’t know if you remember me, but how are you?” And I was floored. Of course I remembered him. And that moment in 2012. And it was just kind of fate—it was totally meant to be,’ she said.
