Just when we thought beauty billionaire and reigning Met Gala queen Rihanna might not make it to the 2021 red carpet, she and boyfriend A$AP Rocky arrived just in time to stun us all with their head-turning outfits.
Rocky was dressed in a colorful cloak draped over a relaxed suit created by emerging fashion brand ERL, while Rihanna wore an oversized black couture gown designed by Balenciaga. The singer’s monochromatic Met Gala look was accented with a well-positioned beanie that offered a peek at her embellished skull cap underneath, plus a range of dazzling diamond accessories (totaling 267 carats, to be exact) by Bulgari.

Though Rihanna’s 2021 Met Gala fit was the main attraction last night, her fall-ready lavender, plum, and gold beauty look certainly brought the drama too. Before applying her makeup for the evening’s event, Fenty Beauty’s global makeup artist, Hector Espinal, catered to her skin first (a good rule of thumb for any beauty lover), using her namesake Fenty Skin line to cleanse, tone, brighten, and hydrate.
Rihanna’s makeup was immaculate. In addition to using the star’s beloved Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in the shade 300, Espinal used a combination of Fenty Beauty bronzers and blushes to add depth and dimension to her skin, plus a setting powder from the brand to lock everything in place.
For her stunning lavender eye look, he reached for two of the brand’s Snap Shadows Mix & Match Eyeshadow Palettes—Cool Neutrals and Smoky—plus two eyeliner pencils from the brand. After a dusting of Fenty Beauty’s pigmented Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in three different shades, Espinal completed Rihanna’s eye look with the brand’s Diamond Bomb Triple Drip All-Over Diamond Veil Palette and a few swipes of Full Frontal Volume, Lift & Curl Mascara.
After filling in her brows with two shades of Fenty Beauty’s Brow MVP Ultra Fine Brow Pencil & Styler, the artist rounded off Rihanna’s striking beauty look with the brand’s deep-burgundy Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color in Underdawg. And though we don’t have details on her fragrance for the night, we can only assume the star was wearing her signature (and currently sold out) Fenty perfume.
