Tymo Ring Hair Straightener Comb Review With Photos

  • The Tymo Hair Straightener Comb is going viral on TikTok.
  • The hair tool promises to make hair straight, silky, and smooth with just one stroke.
  • One editor tested the hair tool and was impressed with the results.

At this point in my life, I can no longer deny the influence TikTok has over me. Any time my scrolling finger lands upon a new beauty hack, a new product, or an insanely cute outfit, I’m ready to hit “add to cart” immediately. Recently, I haven’t been able to scroll my FYP without seeing someone trying out the Tymo Ring Hair Straightener Comb ($43, originally $60). The tool looks like it belongs on the set of the newest installation of “Alien” rather than a bathroom counter, but the results looked so amazing that I was definitely intrigued. Plus, if all of the TikTok videos hadn’t convinced me, the over 20,000 five-star Amazon reviews definitely would have.

Tymo’s Straightener Comb is exactly what it sounds like: a flat iron and a comb in one. The tool promises that its two-in-one product makes it both easier and faster to straighten your hair vs. using a traditional flat iron. It has five different heat settings for different hair types, and it comes with numerous accessories: a bag for the hair tool, a mini brush, a glove to protect your hand when using the tool, and two hair clips.

I have thin, fine hair, but it’s also frizzy no matter what I do. It’s also super poofy when I let it air-dry. I haven’t been flat-ironing my hair a lot recently because I find that when I do straighten it, my hair is left without much bounce or body: instead, it lays flat and limp against my scalp. Since I’m on a bouncy-hair binge right now, I’ve been giving my flat iron a much-needed vacation. However, when I saw this tool giving TikTok beauty influencers hair that was both bouncy and straight, I knew I had to give it a try.

When I opened my new straightener comb for the first time, I was a little dumbfounded at what I saw. The tool was unlike anything I had ever seen before, and I didn’t quite understand how the thing in my hands was going to straighten my hair, much less comb through it. I opted to watch a few TikTok how-to videos, but ultimately, using the tool was much easier than it looked. All I needed to do was grab a one-inch piece of hair, place the straightener comb on top of it, and brush downward. Honestly, the entire process was exactly like brushing my hair, except I was straightening it at the same time.

I tested this tool for the first time on day-three hair when my bouncy blowout had faded and my hair had crimps and waves from the constant tossing and turning I do at night while sleeping on it. It easily smoothed out my unwanted kinks and frizziness, and it did it both quickly and efficiently. All in all, I would say it took me about seven minutes to run through all of my hair, taking it from pathetic to perfect.

Tymo Straightening Comb before and after

A few quick things I love about this straightener comb: it only takes 60 seconds to heat up, which is a major plus since I feel like I’m always in a rush. It turns off on its own after 30 minutes of nonuse, which is a feature I’ve only seen with a few of my other more expensive hair tools. It also doesn’t leave my hair feeling flat and limp after use. Instead, I’m able to maintain bounce and body with a straight style, which is something I haven’t been able to achieve when using a regular flat iron.

Although I used this for the first time on day-three hair when my hair had already been mostly straight, I’ve also tested it out after air-drying my hair when my hair has been a frizzy, unruly mess. It worked perfectly for taming all of my flyaways and wavy pieces, and it did it faster than my flat iron ever could.

As for the cons, this product does have a few. It runs very hot and takes a while to cool down. Although this tool works as both a comb and a straightener, I did find that it was easiest to use after I had brushed through my hair because if I had any knots in my hair, the tool didn’t run through as easily.

At just $43, this is one of the most affordable hair tools I’ve tested in years. I think this tool would be best for those with curly or wavy hair, as well as those who are looking for a quick and easy way to style their hair in a short amount of time. I also think that this tool is extremely user-friendly because of how easy it is to master, so if you’re someone who finds hair tools to be daunting, I would definitely suggest giving this one a try.
